David loved music and was an accomplished musician, sharing his gift with his church and various other organizations. He had a brilliant mind and quick wit. His hobbies included photography, golf, tennis, and dog training.

He married his wife, Mary, in 2001. Together they made several trips to the U.K., as well as national parks in the U.S. They made their home in Electric City until 2014, when they moved to Spokane Valley because of health issues.
