Frank (Bud) Sanford Jr., 96, was born on February 28, 1920, in Almira, Washington, to Frank and Mabel (Adair) Sanford. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, granddaughter Nichole Seylor and his three sisters: Eva Larkin, Belva Flowers and Anna Mae Larison. He is survived by two sons: Delmar (Linda) and George (Jean).

Frank graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1937 and began farming and ranching with his father, and later with his brother-in-law, Art Flowers.

He met and married the love of his life, Elaine Brooks in 1942. They were married for 73 years until Elaine passed away in 2015. Frank retired from active farming and ranching around 1985. Before retirement, he cleared much of the sagebrush off the land for the Banks Lake Golf Course. After retiring, he was active with the P.O.W.E.R. organization and fed the pen fish in Banks Lake. In 1992, he began developing North Shore Acres (a subdivision) near Banks Lake. He actively worked on this project until 2010.

Frank was a member of the Delrio Grange, Washington Cattlemen's Association, Washington Wheat Association, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

While Del and George were living at home, Frank and Elaine enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends. Frank and Elaine also loved to dance, and it was a rare occasion when they missed a dance at the Eagles, Deb's (Creston) or elsewhere in North Central Washington. They enjoyed traveling with friends in British Columbia and the western U.S.

He is fondly remembered and will be missed by his grandchildren: David (Taunya) Sanford, Troy (Robin) Sanford, Kyle (Jody) Sanford, Josh (Jaleen) Flowers and grandson-in-law, Rocky Seylor; 11 great-grandchildren: Chelsea (Bill) Stephanishen, Sabrina (Brandon) Chouinard, Hayley and Dakota Seylor, Tucker, Stetson, Colt and Brooklyn Sanford, and Steven, Bobcat and Shaleese Flowers; 4 great-great-grandchildren: Emmett and Ridge Stephanishen, Dawson and Braiden Chouinard.

Services will be held at 12:00 (noon) Monday, February 20, at Strate Funeral Home, 329 E. Grand Coulee Ave, Grand Coulee Washington. Interment will follow immediately at Spring Canyon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Meals Program. Please sign Bud's online registration book at stratefuneralhome.com
