Grant PUD’s offices will close early Thursday

Grant PUD’s offices will close early for training on Thursday, Feb. 16. The Grand Coulee office will close at 11 a.m., and the Royal City office at 11:30 a.m. The Moses Lake, Ephrata and Quincy offices will close at noon. The call center will remain open. All offices will resume normal hours on Friday, Feb. 17. Also, all Grant PUD’s offices will be closed for President’s Day on Monday, Feb. 20.

School re-zone for discussion tonight

Grand Coulee’s Planning Commission meets at 5:30 tonight (Wednesday) in the city council chambers to continue its work on a business re-zone. An official from the Grand Coulee Dam School District is scheduled to be there to discuss a re-zone for its Center School property.

School gyms will hold all-Indian tournament

The Nespelem All-Indian Basketball Tournament will be held Feb. 18-19 at three different venues - Nespelem Grade School gym, Grand Coulee Middle School gym and Lake Roosevelt High School gym. Categories include men’s 18 and over, women’s 18 and over, men’s 35 and over, and men’s 50 and over.


Elmer City positions up for election

Three council positions and the mayor are up for re-election at .

Elmer City. Council positions held by Joaquin J. Marchand, Larry Holford and Clara Carson will be up for re-filing in November, as well as Mayor Gail Morin’s seat. The other two council positions held by Donald E. Bonertz and Jesse O. Tillman will be up for election in 2019.

Thick ice on the lake

Donna Deckman, an employee of Electric City, told the Regional Board of Mayors that there are 12 inches of ice on Banks Lake, permitting a number of people to fish through the ice.
