The Lady Raiders defeated Liberty Bell in a fourth-quarter comeback before a dominant win over the Manson.

Hosting the Lady Mountain Lions Jan. 17, Lake Roosevelt trailed for three-and-a-half quarters, but stood their ground, rallied, and came away with the win and a final score of 46-40.

Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said that Liberty Bell had a different approach defensively that his team hadn't expected.

"It took us three-and-a-half quarters to adjust to it," he said, "but once we did we we got to rollin'... we started getting shots that we wanted and doing some of the good things we've been working on."

Pleasants said the team has been primarily working on improving their defense: "Tightening up, moving our feet, all the little things it takes to be successful. We can score on anybody offensively, but we've really been improving on defense."

The Lady Raiders made 11 of 23 shots from the free-throw line overall, but hit six of seven later in the game, which came in handy as the winning margin in the end.

When the Manson Lady Trojans came to town on Saturday, the game was not so close. Lake Roosevelt dominated the entire game, leading 23-7 at the half and only allowing 10 points in the second half, winning 49-17.

"It was good work; we've just got to continue to improve," Pleasants said.

The Lady Raiders are now 9-3 in the league, one game ahead of 8-4 Liberty Bell, and two games behind Tonasket and Brewster, who are both 11-1.

A canceled game against Soap Lake, originally scheduled for last Thursday, was moved to Feb. 4.

The Lady Raiders played last night against the Tonasket Lady Tigers, results of which will be in next week's Star.

The girls host the Omak Pioneers in a non-league game in Coulee Dam Thursday, Jan. 26, with junior varsity scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday the ladies will host the 0-12 Bridgeport Fillies, with JV scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
