Lady Raiders volleyball had a busy schedule this past week, winning games on Tuesday and Thursday before losing one on Saturday.

Lake Roosevelt won 3-2 on Tuesday in Waterville, shocking the Shockers on their home court by coming back from a 1-2 deficit, winning the tie-breaking fifth set 15-8.

"We played some very up and down volleyball for the evening," said LR Head Coach Kasey Garvin.

Freshman Ellie Hansen finished the night with a personal record of 11 kills and 9 digs, "which is impressive when you're over 6-0 tall playing back row," her coach said. Freshman Megan Abel had a personal record of 13 digs for the evening. Junior setter Sean Garvin finished the night with 29 assists and 18 digs.

"Sean is really good at reading a hitter, and she's able to position herself to pick up tips as well as line shots," said Coach Garvin.

"Everyone contributed to the win for the night," she continued. "I am proud of the girls that come off the bench; they have to fill in for different kids from game to game and they do a great job of giving my starters a break when they need it."

On Thursday night, the Lady Raiders hosted the Oroville Hornets, swatting them in four sets.

"All of my hitters did well contributing to the team's total kills for the night," Garvin said. "I have some bangers on my team that serve the ball very hard which oftentimes results in an ace, but we just need to find that balance of when to bang it and when we need to just get the ball in play."

"With such a long string of losses, I'm happy with the wins this week," Garvin said. "I'm trying to keep these girls' focus on one point at a time, one set at a time, one game at a time."

The Lady Raiders traveled to Liberty Bell on Saturday. The game was close, but LR lost the fifth set to the Mountain Lions.

The Lady Raiders have three home games left: a home game on Thursday, Oct. 20, against the Tonasket Tigers starting at 5:30 p.m.; followed by a game in Brewster on Saturday, and another home game on Tuesday, Oct. 25 against Soap Lake, also at 5:30 p.m.
