The Lake Roosevelt Cross Country runners participated in the Tonasket Invitational last Wednesday.

"Tonasket is one of the last of the old, very hilly courses developed back when district and state courses were very hilly," explained Head Coach Gary Darnold. "This course is very challenging, with the terrain being way more up and down than most courses."

The course is three-tenths of a mile short of a 5K, roughly 2.8 miles long.

Out of 57 total runners, Raiders Kyle Edmo finished 19th with a time of 18 minutes, 38 seconds. Will Friedlander finished 39th in 18:46, a personal record; Cameron Tillman finished 48th in 20:45; and Jonathan Cante finished 49th with a time of 20:51, another PR.

"Kyle started towards the back and made his way through traffic, placing 36th," Darnold said. "All the runners ran very tough, responding well to the tougher course. Their hard work in practice is starting to show."

The Raider runners travel to Omak today (Wednesday) for a "fast, flat 5k," as described by Darnold.
