A grand

picnic

The Electric City community picnic held Sept. 10, raised $1,000 towards the development of the city’s new park site, behind the fire station. A year ago a similar picnic raised $2,500, and an additional $30,000 has been budgeted by the city to develop the park.

advantage

Some 27 area residents took advantage of a household hazardous waste collection at the Delano Regional Transfer Station held Sept. 9, a report to the Regional Board of Mayors last week stated.

City supports another trail

Electric City’s council passed a resolution in support for the preservation of the John Wayne Trail State Park as well as the allocation of additional state resources for the maintenance and improvement of the trail east of the Columbia River at its meeting last week.

No food

bank Friday

The Care and Share Food Bank will not be open this Friday due to the free food mobile truck coming Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Blood draw

is Monday

The Inland Northwest Blood Center, along with the Grand Coulee Community Blood Drive volunteers, will hold a blood drive Monday, Sept. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the community room at Coulee Medical Center.

Governor’s council to consider

local

windmills

The Gehrke Windmill Garden at North Dam Park is being reviewed for nomination to the Washington Heritage Register by the Washington State Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. The Governor’s Advisory Council will meet Friday, Oct. 7, in Tacoma, and consider the listing.

School board rescheduled

The school board meeting for September, normally scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26, has been rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m., in the high school library.

POWER

to meet

The POWER group will meet next Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. All parties interested are asked to attend as the meeting will lay the groundwork for the year. Volunteers are needed for the tasks related to the fish pens in Electric City.
