Harvest Festival to offer a host of activities

There’s truly something to do for everyone at this year’s Harvest Festival, Sept. 17-18 at North Dam Park.

Some things you need to get registered for and are unique, to say the least.

Get a team of six together and register for the Human Foosball event. It costs $30, but there’s prize money to win, and it’s only $5 each for team members.

Also register for the Run the Dam race, which starts by crossing the dam. That’s Saturday. See runthedam.com for details and to register.

Food and craft vendors can call the chamber office to register for Saturday and Sunday activity. Also worth of note is the annual community garage sale, held Saturday and Sunday.

A special event is planned for amateur and professional cooks — a steak cook-off and a Spam cooking contest. That’s right, Spam. Those events will be judged and they boast $500 in prize money for lucky winners.

Then there’s a host of activities for kids, including pumpkin and zucchini decorating, zucchini racing, water balloons, face painting, and a magnificent bubble station.

Be sure to take in the official barbecue competition and tasting on Sunday.

The beer garden will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for adult refreshments.

Register for foosball, vending, community garage sale, and the Steak and Anything Spam competition at grandcouleedam.org/harvest.
