They will be churning up the water on Banks Lake this weekend, looking for big rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and walleye.

It's all part of the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Triple Fish Challenge, kicking off from Coulee Playland on Saturday, and continuing Sunday.

The grand prize for this year's fourth annual Triple Fish Challenge, fittingly, is something that will make fishing easier for the winner.

The Triple Fish Challenge is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24, in Banks Lake.

The grand prize is an Achilles four-person inflatable boat and Yamaha outboard motor.

The "Challenge" is to catch smallmouth bass, walleye and rainbow trout with various levels of winners in categories, such as biggest fish, in each species each day, total stringer weight each day, and total combined heaviest six fish for the two-day tournament.

You can register under two categories: junior – up to 15 years, a $20 entry fee; and over 15, a $60 entry fee.

Online registration continues until midnight, April 21, with on -site registration Friday, April 22, 5-7 p.m., and continues during boat inspection Saturday, April 23, 6-8 a.m. The driver's meeting will be at 8 a.m., Saturday.

Awards will be presented an hour after the challenge is over on April 24.

Those with questions can call the chamber of commerce office at 633-3074 or Coulee Playland at 633-2671.
