Center hosting free programs

The Fort Okanogan Interpretive Center on SR 17 just north of Brewster is hosting free public programs throughout the summer.

The programs range from blacksmith demonstrations to tribal beadwork art and preserving family archives. They are scheduled from this Friday through Sept. 20.

This week you can watch as highly skilled blacksmiths hammer, bend and shape pieces of hot metal into tools and pieces of art.

• Saturday, July 11 — Blacksmith Demonstrations start at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

• Sunday, July 12 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
