Students recognized as reading all stars

Students at Lake Roosevelt Elementary School received awards in a special ceremony last Wednesday in the school's Accelerated Reading Program.

Making the awards was Aaron Derr, elementary library reading specialist.

The following students earned the top reader award and a $25 Amazon gift card for their grade level. Finn Beery, kindergarten; Emry Piturachsatit, first grade; Noah Hunt, second grade; Celeste LaPlace, third grade; Brit Egbert, fourth grade; Showaway Hunt, fifth grade; and Mikayla Harris, sixth grade.

The following students were recognized as Accelerated Reading All Stars for exceeding reading expectations and obtaining 250 or more reading points: Michelle Stanger, Showaway Hunt, Celeste LaPlace, Ty Rimpler, Jozlyn St. John, Lillie LaPlace and Mikayla Harris.

Mikayla Harris was given a special award of a $100 Amazon gift card for setting a new school record for reading, gaining 1,000.7 points The student closest to her had 542 points.

Points are earned by logging into the AR website and taking a quiz in the book the student has just read. Typically books range in the 0.5- to 15-point value range.
