Lake Roosevelt’s tennis players had their 2015 season come to a close Saturday at the first round of the district tournament.

Only one team made it out of the single elimination round. That was the doubles team of Tanya Ang and Riley Pitner. Ang and Pitner came back from a 4-7 deficit against the Butler sisters of Liberty Bell to win 9-7. They then lost the next two matches to the number-one overall from Okanogan (6-1, 6-2) then to the White Swan team of Spoonhunter and Gutierrez ( 6-2, 6-3).

“We had a great year of overall improvement,” Head Coach Steve Archer said about the team. “We lose two senior girls from the varsity, so we are hopeful we will cash in on this year’s experience as we begin a fresh season.”

That fresh season will also feature the completed new tennis courts, which only sported temporary stripes this spring. They will be finished this summer. The tennis awards banquet is scheduled for May 26 to wrap up the season.

Raider results for May 16th at Omak:

Singles - Jordan Charles lost to Elijah Burnell of Oroville 8-5; Isaiah Baty lost to Carlos Ceniceros of Pateros 8-6

Harmony Witten lost to Erin Frey of Liberty Bell 10-9 (7-5); Areielle White lost to Brianna Cos from Okanogan 8-2

Doubles - Alaynah Herman and Mary Clark lost to Easter and LeDoux of Pateros 8-2; Malcom Carson and Aiden Derr lost to Montgomery and Olmos of Entiat 8-3; Will Friedlander and Corban Wilder lost to Patterson and Nearents of Okanogan 8-4
