Raider golf started Thursday with a home opening match against Omak.

In girls’ competition, Jonell Denchel won the match for Lake Roosevelt, shooting a 62.

The medalists for the boys in the match were Cameron D. of Omak and Brandon A. of Omak. Each shot a 44 at Banks Lake Golf Course.

“This was the first competitive high school match for everyone on the squad,” commented Raider Head Coach Steve Files. “They all stepped up and represented themselves and our school very well.”

Files said the good weather has allowed the team to get out on the course more than usual for this time of year. Now, he said, “We need to stay positive out there, strive for consistency, and visualize the desired results on each swing.”

Last night, the Raiders travelled to Desert Canyon Golf Course to take on the Warden Cougars in the last match until after spring break, when the Raiders will head north to Oroville to take on the Hornets in a match on April 15, starting at 2:30 p.m.
