Dorothy Ethel McClure

Dorothy Ethel  McClure was born on Dec 23, 1929, to Delbert and Ethel Powell of Spokane,Wash. Dorothy had many aspirations growing up and became musically involved with singing and playing the piano. 

While attending North Central High School, one of many highlights included having the lead in a musical opera and being a guest singer with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra while in college. She met Stan Roderick while in attendance and they married upon graduation having two daughters, Gail and Robin.

The marriage ended and later she married Vern Heizer having four children: Vern, Dan, Lindsey (deceased), Nancy (deceased). When the marriage ended with Vern, she became a Montessori teacher.

Then in 1972 Dorothy married Norm,  a longtime childhood friend from the Nespelem Valley, sharing life for 36 years.

Dorothy was a devote member of the Presbyterian Church and had a passion for directing the church choir. She also enjoyed reading, playing the piano, drying flowers for collages, collecting spiders and spending endless hours in the garden. She was an animal lover, caring for numerous cats, dogs and wild animals through out the years. 

She leaves behind her little Bailey who will miss her so.  Those proceeding her in death, mother and father, husband Norman (2008), children: Robin, Lindsey, Nancy.

Dorothy is also survived by her loving brother Eddie of Oregon and 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
