The Lady Raiders last week took on the six-time 1B State Champion Colton and Lakeland of Idaho, both at the Eagle Holiday Classic at the West Valley High School gyms in Spokane Valley Dec. 29-30. Lake Roosevelt lost both games.

Against Colton, both teams started cold with no score until after two-and-a-half minutes passed in the first quarter. Colton then built a 12-0 lead before a pair of three pointers by Lachelle Bearcub put the Lady Raiders on the board in the last minute of the quarter.

In the second quarter the Lady Raiders stayed close to the Colton Wildcats, putting the score at half 23-17.

It was in the third quarter that the Wildcats pulled away. LR scored only four points and began to rack up the fouls. Colton scored 19 in the same quarter with many of those points coming at the foul line.

During the fourth quarter the Lady Raiders were able to score 12 points, but Colton stayed hot and put up 22 to seal the win. The final score was Colton 64, LR 33.

The Lady Raiders were looking to rebound against Lakeland on the 30th. Lakeland was struggling and had lost some games by over 30 points. LR took the early lead and held on to it at halftime. With a 17-13 lead, the Lady Raiders again struggled in the third quarter, scoring only four points for the second straight day.

Lakeland put up 10 points in the third to take the lead 23-21 going into the fourth quarter. LR scored 10 points in the back-and-forth fourth quarter struggle, but the lack of offense in the third was too much to overcome. Lakeland came away with the win 35-31.

The Lady Raiders travelled to Tonasket for a Central Washington 2B North League contest last night. Tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the middle school gym at Grand Coulee, the Lady Raiders host the Brewster Bears who are having an up-and-down season. Their 3-4 overall win-loss record includes a 40-31 loss to Liberty Bell on Dec. 19.

Then on Saturday at 4 p.m., the Lady Raiders take on the Waterville Shockers at Grand Coulee. The Shockers are also having an up-and-down season with many close games.
