You still have until this Thursday to submit names for the Trees of Sharing program, which distributes Christmas gifts to children in need.

Names will be accepted at Safeway, Harvest Foods and Coulee Medical Center, and are for preschool kids from the area or school children attending Grand Coulee Dam School District schools.

The trees will be up soon with the tags showing the age and gender of children who are earmarked for gifts. Just take a tag, prepare a gift and get it back at one of the local sites collecting the gifts.

The Trees of Sharing trees will be in place by Nov. 21, and those taking the ornament tags off the trees to purchase gifts will have until Dec. 12 to do so.

Trees of Sharing would like some volunteers to assist with the program. If you would like to volunteer, call Linda Black at 633-3611. To volunteer to deliver gifts, call Jean Sanford, 633-1250.

As an added treat, volunteers have been sewing up dozens of Christmas stockings. Volunteers plan to fill the stockings with toiletries, such as bath soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and lotions. These will go along with the tags selected from the trees.
