Report: mayor’s condition improving

Coulee Dam Councilmember Ben Alling said Tuesday that Mayor Greg Wilder, who suffered a stoke last week, is improving.

Alling, an EMT, has been in to see Wilder on two occasions while in Spokane with ambulance services. The mayor had suffered a stroke and was in Sacred Heart Hospital. Alling said that Wilder was due to go to St. Luke’s rehab center. Alling said he visited the center Monday but Wilder wasn’t there. Alling said Wilder had a speech problem due to the stroke but it had much improved between his visits.

Teen murder

suspects found in Oregon

Okanogan County Sheriff’s detectives were in Oregon Tuesday to question two teenagers regarding a murder on Hosheit Road in Riverside where a Patrick Alltus, 39, was shot several times.

The teens lived at the residence, but they and Alltus’ pickup were missing Sunday when the body was found.

Parker M. Bachtold and Shalin E. Alltus were taken into custody by Oregon authorities south of Eugene.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Lab finished processing the crime scene late Monday night, but Sheriff Frank Rogers said no other information was being released yet.

Alling attends conference

Tim Alling, president of the Coulee Corridor Consortium, recently attended the national by-ways conference in Georgia.

Ban lifted

on fires

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area Superintendent Dan Foster has lifted the ban on camp fires on the exposed lakebed. The restrictions were lifted after fire danger levels were lowered by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources in the counties surrounding the lake.

Ferry

fixed

Keller Ferry was docked last weekend for repairs and was put back into service Monday morning. The new Sanpoil had a short crack in the hull that was fixed by its maker, Foss Maritime.
