“Begger’s Opera” is Grand Coulee’s connection to the hard rock scene. They performed two nights at the Wildlife last weekend. Local twin boys, Mike and Steve Calvert, both 1988 graduates from Lake Roosevelt are a big part of the band that has been touring all over the Pacific Northwest and a mainstay in the Spokane rock band scene.

Raider Football ended it’s 11 game losing streak with a win 14-6 over Liberty Bell Friday night. Senior quarterback Steve Hanson threw a touchdown pass to receiver Chuck Simpson to score the first points of the game. This game was about defense though. Five forced fumbles in the second half stalled all of the Lions drives. Big nights on defense for Bo Sammaripa, Tony Wilson, Mike Bradeen and Trevor Fields helped shut down the progress of any scoring opportunities. Jackson Louie sealed the win with a five yard run for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
