BBCC offers GED and HS21+ classes

Last updated 9/17/2014 at 10:01am

Students who need to brush up prior to taking the 2014 Series GED exams have that opportunity beginning next week. The class is available to students sixteen years old and older, although students between 16 and 19 years old must be officially released by the school district.

Adults 21 years old and older have the option of combining Big Bend Basic Skills courses with a variety of prior experiences to earn a high school diploma. An instructor and BBCC registration personnel will evaluate transcripts, knowledge gained from life experience, as well as any employment and volunteer history to work with the student to craft an educational plan to meet graduation requirements. The emphasis in this class is preparation of a portfolio of evidence to support these graduation requirements.

For information on how to participate in either of these programs locally, please contact Linda Black at lblack_ged@yahoo.com or 633-3611 by September 19. Sessions for GED preparation and HS21+ begin September 23. A minimum number of students is required for these course offerings.
