Grand Coulee Police

8/18 - Police checked on an Almira woman after receiving a report that she might be suicidal. She assured the patrolman that she was OK and not thinking about that. The report stated that the house was orderly and everything appeared OK.

- A woman on Dill Avenue reported to police that a fire safe had been taken from her home. She stated she didn’t know how long it had been gone and estimated the value of the taken items at $1,500.

- A Mt.Vernon man was told he couldn’t ride his scooter inside North Dam Park after hours. He had stated that there wasn’t a sign saying he couldn’t.

8/19 - Plant Protection advised police that there was wire in the roadway near Riley Point. Police assisted until the wire was removed and taken to the salvage area.

- A employee of Grant County Housing Authority told police that he had been working on Burdin Boulevard when a man came out and gestured as though he wanted to fight. The housing authority worker went towards him and the man fled.

- An officer went to “B” Street on a report of domestic violence. The dispute was over a woman coming into a man’s house without letting him know ahead of time.

- An Electric City woman requested extra patrols around her residence since a set of keys had been stolen from her vehicle while she was in Everett, Wash. Among the missing keys was one to her house.

- An officer responded to a dispute at Sunbanks Lake Resort between a father and son in regard to an animal cage left in his recreational vehicle. The father, reportedly intoxicated, had wandered off but later was found, and the two agreed to separate for the evening until things quieted down.

8/20 - The mosquito district building had an unsecured door open and lights on. An officer secured the building after attempts were made to reach an official were unsuccessful.

- Officers assisted in helping with a deceased person in Grand Coulee, working with the coroner’s office and notifying a relative.

- A person who had been working on a wildland fire line all day and was returning home with his vehicle ran into the Safeway sign and another vehicle in the parking lot. The man said he was confused and didn’t know what happened, and later went to Coulee Medical Center for observation. When the accident occurred the firefighter was slumped over the wheel, and it took an observer a little time to wake him up.

- A Maryland driver was reportedly driving in a suspicious manner. When confronted by police near the USBR Visitor Center, the driver said he was lost and wandering around.

- A man on E. Grand Coulee Avenue told police that someone had left a burn barrel on his property and the barrel contained metal. He wa advised to contact police if he could determine who owned the barrel.

8/22 - An officer told a woman on Second Street to tell her kids to stop throwing apples at passing cars. The reporting party said one apple hit their car. The woman was told to pick up the apples on the street.

- A woman reported a phone scam where a caller was trying to get her to consolidate her credit cards. Her phone provider said it is a national scam.

- USBR Plant Protection told police that people were shouting at each other near the overlook area just above Grand Coulee Dam. The officer found three males and one female visiting who said they had not been shouting at each other.

8/23 - Police responded to a call that a small deer had been injured near The Four Corners. The animal was dispatched and drug off the roadway.

- Police had a vehicle towed from the USBR Visitor Center parking lot. It was reported that the vehicle had been parked there for a couple of days.

8/24 - A man on Roosevelt Drive was arrested and taken to Grant County Jail on a domestic violence charge and for interfering with a person trying to report the incident. The woman involved stated that the man had been drinking and that he held her by the wrists and knocked the phone from her hands.

- Three young males, all from Snohomish, were intercepted by police for being in a restricted zone near the 500 kV Spreader yard. They admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. They were released to their parents who were also in the area.

- Plant Protection advised police of a semi-truck parked at Riley Point. Police asked the truck driver to move the rig along to another location.

8/25 - A Penticton driver was advised to move from the Visitor Center parking lot. The driver said there were no signs saying they couldn’t park there. They moved.

- Police advised an Osoyoos driver that they couldn’t park in the Visitor Center parking lot. They noted that there were no signs stating they couldn’t park there. They moved along.
