Who’s got

talent?

The senior class at Lake Roosevelt High School is sponsoring an All Ages/Community-Wide Talent Show that kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight in the LRHS gym. Mr. LR will be crowned and dessert will be served. Cost for the show is $2.

The Grand Coulee Recreation Softball League will hold a coaches meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 22, at Loepp Furniture. The team due date has been set for June 1, and softball play begins June 10. Additional information is available by calling Kevin Portch, 631-0139, or Amanda Button, 631-2667.

Okanogan County is seeking applicants to serve on the seven-member Parks and Recreation Board to advise the county commissioners on matters related to the utilization, maintenance, and construction of county owned/managed trails, trailheads, and associated parking areas throughout the county. Members serve without pay and should be able to commit to at least one meeting per month. Those interested should send a letter of interest and brief resume by May 23 to Lalena Johns, Clerk of the Board, Okanogan County Commissioners, 123 Fifth Avenue N., Room 150, Okanogan, WA. 98840, or electronically to: ljohns@co.okanogan.wa.us. The county was also seeking applicants for its 11-member fair board. Applications can be sent to the same address.

Book signing

Kay L. Counts will hold a book signing at the Colville Tribal Museum, Saturday, June 14, at 1 p.m. Her book “Stevens County”, is part of Arcadia Publishing Company’s “Images of America Series”. Counts lives in Tumwater Falls and is an active member of both the Oregon and Washington state historical societies. The public is invited.

fallen law officers

A “Fallen Officer Memorial” horseback ride will be held Friday, May 16, beginning at the Owhi Lake turn off at 8 a.m. The ride will take about 2.5 hours and end up at the Colville Tribal Corrections facility.

A motorcycle ride will start at 12:30 p.m. at Corrections and ride some 205 miles going through Omak, Tonasket, Republic, Keller, and over the Keller Ferry and back to its starting point. Following the horseback ride there will be a special memorial service at Corrections beginning at 11 a.m.

Relay for

Life set

Okanogan County Relay for Life will be held May 17 and 18, at the Agriplex at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds, 175 Rodeo Trail Road, Okanogan. The opening ceremony begins 3 p.m. on Saturday and concludes at 8 a.m. on Sunday with the closing ceremony.
