The city of Grand Coulee will hold a public hearing on requests for a bus facility for seniors and for a daycare center in the central business district at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at the council chambers in city hall.

Representatives of the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center have appeared before the city council several times to ask for permission to build a garage on property behind the center to house their two buses. It was explained to them at the time that doing so would violate the city’s land use plan.

Also, a request had been made to develop a daycare center on Main Street, and it was explained at the time that this would violate the city’s land use code.

After deliberation, the city council decided that both of these requests would benefit residents in the area and are requesting that interested parties provide input at the public hearing, or in writing to the city clerk’s office.

The purpose of the public hearing is to review and consider proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Grand Coulee Municipal Code.

The city has stated that the requests do not have a significant adverse impact on the environment.
