Electric City could land one of a handful of kiosks being planned along the Coulee Corridor.

The "corridor" covers the area between Othello and Omak and is recognized nationally for the many unusual landscape features along the route.

Birdie Hensley, who has been active in the Coulee Corridor organization from its inception, appeared before the Electric City Council a week ago to ask if the city was interested in getting one of the informational kiosks.

She explained to city officials that it is desirable that the kiosks be located on public land and that visitors have easy access to the kiosks.

She stated that the cost to the city would be about $3,000, and suggested if the city was interested that it could use hotel/motel tax monies, since the kiosks are designed for tourist information.

Hensley stated that additional kiosks could also be located in the area.

Coulee Corridor would provide the information elements for the kiosks. Hensley stated that Coulee Corridor is ready to start locating the kiosks this year.

One site that had been mentioned for a kiosk location in Electric City is the space near the bus stop near city hall. The city owns that property.

The council didn't immediately make a decision on the kiosk question.
