The Lady Raiders split their week, defeating the Mt. Lions at Liberty Bell Jan. 21, 48-25, but falling to Oroville at home 45-40 on Friday.

Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said the contest against Liberty Bell was a game the Lady Raiders were supposed to win.

Riley Epperson led the team by scoring 13 points. Lachelle Bearcub and Alana Epperson each scored 11 points.

But on Jan. 24, the Lady Raiders hosted Oroville, who held them off for 45-40 Hornet win.

"We missed a lot of easy shots," Pleasants said. "We need to play a more consistent game in order to win the games we are not supposed to win."

The Lady Raiders committed too many fouls early as the Hornets were shooting bonus at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams had trouble making shots up close and at distance, and at the end of the first half LR was behind by just five points.

In the second half, shooting woes continued for both squads, but that lead going into the half was key for the Hornets, who maintained it and held off an LR rally in the fouth for the win.

Pleasants praised the play of two freshmen against the Hornets. "Very pleased with the play of Mysti Dick and Marque Wilson," he said. "They stepped in to fill a void and help the Epperson sisters on offense."

Dick scored 10 points on the night, a season high for her. Wilson scored nine points, also for a season high.

This week the Lady Raiders are on the road at Bridgeport and Manson. Last night LR took on the Fillies who came into the game with a 4-10 overall record. On Friday at Manson the Lady Raiders will face a Trojan squad with a 3-9 win-loss record overall, including a 44-40 loss to the Lady Raiders two weeks ago. Friday's game at Manson High School tips off at 6 p.m.
