Harvey Jackson Godbey passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the age of 84 in Spokane, Wash. He was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and graduated from the University of Florida. He joined the US Air Force as an enlisted man in 1951 and retired as a major in 1976. During his military career, Harvey traveled the world as part of the Air Force Inspector General Team.

He and his wife of 43 years, Bernice, raised four children (Michael, Mark, Mitchell and Tracie) while living in Florida, Washington, Texas, Alaska, California and Ohio. After retiring from the Air Force, the Godbey's moved to Espanola and then to the Grand Coulee area where Harvey worked as a driver's license examiner and Bernice helped run several local motels. During his life, Harvey was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast. He taught his sons how to play multiple sports and doted on his daughter.

After Bernice passed away in 1998, Harvey stayed in Electric City and spent many days fishing and playing golf. His children, grandchildren (Tiffani, Becky, Scott, Justin and Jessie) and great-grandchildren (Evangeline, Elana, Barrett, Nicholas, Abigail, Addalieah, Bentlee, Everett and Gavyn) will miss him deeply.

He will be cremated and reunited with Bernice.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family wishes that any remembrances be made as a donation to the American Cancer Society in Harvey's name.
