CMC

commission meets tonight

Commissioner for Public Hospital District 6, which operates Coulee Medical Center, will meet at their regular monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the CMC public meeting room. Among items on the agenda are the elections of officers for the new year and a closed session that relies on the state’s exception to open meetings for evaluating the performance of a public employee.

Parties interested in serving on the Grand Coulee City Council still have a couple of days to get their letter of interest in to city hall. The council Position 2 seat is currently open and the city has advertised to find a person to fill the seat.

Billing date change

suggested

Gloria “Glo” Carroll asked the Coulee Dam council last Wednesday night to consider changing its utility billing date from the 25th of the month to the first of the month to accommodate the way most people are paid. It was referred to a council committee. She also asked the town to advise newcomers to Coulee Dam that the fire siren doesn’t always mean there is a fire, it is set off to announce fire meetings.

Grant OK’d

Coulee Dam is signing on to get its Shoreline Management Act plan together. The council OK’d Mayor Greg Wilder to sign on and receive the Department of Ecology’s $50,000 grant to finance the mandated program. The grant covers $47,720 for professional services and $2,280 for town expenses.

Business class

The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce will kick off its educational programs this year with a “How to effectively use social media in business” class from 11-2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in the Starkey Professional building, 17 Midway Avenue. Cost for the class is $25, including lunch. Seating is limited. Call the chamber office for reservations at 633-3074.

The program is the first of three business education classes the chamber plans to arrange for businesses this year.

County needs

fair committee volunteers

Grant County commissioners are looking for interested citizens of Grant County to serve on the Fair Advisory Committee. This Committee assists the Board and the Fair Office Staff in the preparation and running of the Grant County Fair. There are three positions available for a 3-year term, maximum 2 terms. This is no compensation for serving on this committee. An application must be completed and can be found at http://www.grantcountyweb.com under the “Important Announcements” heading.
