No transition - not surprising, but amazing

Letters to the Editor

We’ve often commented upon the actions of our now out-going mayor and some town council members. Their lack of concern, bullying tactics and adverse actions towards our town and its citizens have been duly noted and as a result YOU removed them from office.

Not surprising but amazing is the fact that Quincy Snow has refused (through non-response) any sort of transition meeting with Mayor-Elect Greg Wilder. A facilities tour was requested and denied. A request was made for the mayor-elect to attend a meeting this month regarding the Bureau Security Contract and Coulee Dam’s participation. Denied. The Washington State Auditor, who offered to broker a transition process was ignored. THE STATE AUDITOR WAS IGNORED! At the last (ever) meeting of the current Coulee Dam Town Council, absolutely no mention or welcome was made to the new council members or our new mayor. There was plenty of patting on the back of outgoing members. Hail Good Fellows!

Understand that this is not only how they treated our newly elected officials, it’s how they treated YOU, the citizens. Our new council and mayor will have plenty of work to do to enable change and improvement. Change and improvement is not what was wanted for you by our outgoing officials. It appears they have taken their balls and gone stomping home. Poor form but proves what we’ve been saying all along. They are now nothing more than an ever-decreasing vision in the rear view mirror. Onward and upward, no one can stop wanted and needed change once the People have spoken! We spoke, we voted and now our elected officials will get down to the work at hand.

Please join us on Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. at Coulee Dam Town Hall for the swearing in ceremony of our new mayor, and council members Gayle Swagerty and Duane Johnson. Come meet the people who will serve us all and enjoy some refreshment. Your ideas are important to our new council and they sincerely want to hear from you. We hope to see you there. You can also join us on the Coulee Dam Mayor Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/couleedammayor. They can’t do this alone, your input is needed and valued.
