It’s library

light time

A special program is planned for the Etheta Anderson Grand Coulee Library on Thursday, Dec, 5. from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A special lighting of the library, a repeat of last year’s program, is planned.

The library, a branch of North Central Regional Library, is located at 225 Federal Avenue.

The ceremony will usher in the Christmas season in Grand Coulee with door prizes donated by local businesses, caroling, refreshments, and both the young and old will see Santa Claus arrive in a Grand Coulee fire truck.

Visitors will also get acquainted with the services provided by the library.

Gun

enthusiasts forming club

Those interested in the startup of a local gun club are asked to attend a 6 p.m. meeting, Monday, Dec. 9, at the Tropical Pig restaurant in Electric City, according to Mike Beaty.

The group will attempt to elect officers and establish by-laws. The proposed location for a gun club range is in the Washington Flats area.

The PTA meeting scheduled for next Thursday, Dec. 12, has been cancelled. The PTA next meets at 7 p.m. in the Center School library on Jan, 9.

PUD

Changes

meeting

schedule

Grant County PUD commissioners recently approved modification of their public meeting schedule and will now hold meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. This is a change from the current meeting schedule which occurs on the second and fourth Mondays.

Effective Jan. 1, 2014 Grant PUD commission meetings will begin at 9 a.m. and the formal business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Most policy-related action in the form of motions and resolutions will take place during the business meeting. The meetings will continue to take place in the Ephrata headquarters building located at 30 C St. SW in Ephrata, Wash.

to meet

A group wanting to get a gun club established at Washington Flats plans to meet at 6 p.m., Dec. 9, at the Tropical Pig in Electric City, according to Mike Beaty. The group will attempt to elect officers and establish by-laws.

Grand Coulee’s council voted to renew Charter Communications’ charter with the city. The cable television provider, also known as Falcon Video Communications, got its initial cable agreement with the city in 2003.

Enrollment in Grand Coulee Dam School District schools show gains over the same period last year. November’s count in all three schools was 678, compared to 634 last school year in October. The district has budgeted for 640 students monthly.

Mayors received a report that shows October as the first month this year that the Delano Transfer Station took in less revenue than during the same month last year. In October this year the transfer station had $34,532 in receipts, compared to $35,648 last year, a drop of $1,116. For the year through October, revenues are ahead of 2012 by about $33,000.
