Coulee Dam mayor-elect Greg Wilder will get the use of the community room, without charge, to conduct his swearing in ceremony, Dec. 23, officials said this week.

Wilder had asked for use of the room for special swearing in ceremonies for himself, and two new council members — Gayle Swagerty, Duane Johnson — and possibly returning Councilmember Bob Poch.

Swearing in the new town officials will be U.S. Attorney Mike Ormsby of the Department of Justice, Eastern Washington. Wilder and Ormsby have been friends for some time.

The use of the room was among a number of requests Wilder has made of town hall.

One of his requests, information on how the town got its numbers for its budget, was addressed Monday when Acting Town Clerk Lori Oles sent Wilder all the files used by former clerk Carol Visker to establish the town’s preliminary budget.

Wilder had stated that the reason he had set the swearing in ceremony for Dec. 23, was that he wanted everything in place so he could get started immediately when he takes office Jan. 1.

In an email note, Wilder stated that one of the first things he will do after taking office is hire a new town clerk.

Wilder said he has repeatedly asked for a transition meeting with Mayor Quincy Snow so that he will be fully briefed on town activities. To date, Wilder said, he hasn’t had any response from Mayor Snow.

A call to Snow on Monday to see if arrangements were being made for a transition meeting was not returned,
