Needed: stable medical workforce

Letters to the Editor

When our family moved to the Airport Addition of Coulee Dam from the northeast corner of Wyoming in 1980, we were where we wanted to be, hopefully for the rest of our life. Lake Roosevelt High School was just around the corner, grocery shopping was another two blocks away, fishing and hunting were a few feet further, as were the medical facilities. It seemed that after we arrived, unrest began in the medical community that continues to this day.

We have resided through one hospital “shake-up” and it appears that we may be heading there today. About 20 years ago we were in the musical chair doctor mode. I recall that some of our medical staff were in residence about two years before heading down the road.

To all involved in any decision that must be made: We geezers are no longer as mobile as we once were. Round-trips for medical trips to Spokane are in the past. We need a stable, medical workforce.

Reg and Linda Morgan
