Grand Coulee’s Civil Service Commission meets Friday, Nov. 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers, where members will work on the details of how to proceed in the hiring of a new police officer, set test dates, and other matters before the commission.

The Church of the Nazarene will hold its community Thanksgiving dinner from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Senior Center, according to Pastor Adrian Harris.

The November monthly meeting of the Coulee Corridor Consortium will be noon, Friday, Nov. 15, at Pepper Jack’s Bar & Grille in Grand Coulee. The group that promotes tourism along the National Scenic Byway route meets in a different city each month. The public is invited to attend.

Inland Northwest Blood Center will hold a blood drive Nov. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Coulee Medical Center’s Professional Building A (the former clinic building). Advance appointments can be made by calling Bonnie at 633-9257 or online at inbcsaves.org.

Grant PUD

EPHRATA, Wash. - Following recent public hearings, Grant PUD commissioners approved a $247.4 million budget for 2014 during their regular business meeting on Tuesday.

The budget includes significant dollars for capital projects associated with the PUD’s federal license and aging equipment, the PUD said in a press release. Some of this work includes: 

• Generator replacements at Wanapum Dam

• Hatchery site improvements and construction

• Recreation site enhancements

• On-going electric system reliability improvements 

“This budget balances our operational needs while also being considerate of present and future customers,” said Commission President Terry Brewer. “Our mission focuses on providing reliable, low-cost energy for our customers; this budget allows us to make it happen.”
