The debut of the all new Laser Light Show, which had been scheduled for Aug. 8, will now occur next year, officials at the Bureau of Reclamation said this week.

A group of stakeholders from the area, who are working with the company preparing the new show, said after a preliminary viewing that the show needed work.

Accordingly, bureau Public Affairs Officer Lynne Brougher said it was decided to move the new show to next season.

LumaLaser, a company out of Gresham, Ore., which has the $1.6 million contract, has been working with the stakeholder group for a number of months in an effort to create a new show.

Part of the contract was for an upgrade of equipment. That part of the contract has already been fullfilled, and the bureau is showing nightly the old show using the new equipment. Visitors say that the show is much more detailed since the new equipment has been installed.

A trailer of the new show is now offered at the beginning of the current laser show each night.

Initially the premier showing was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, but it wasn’t ready in time, and the Aug. 8, date was set.

The stakeholder group is made up of 16 persons who represent all elements of activity connected to Grand Coulee Dam.
