The annual Summer Reading Program has started at the Grand Coulee Library. The theme this summer for children and teens, chosen by a National Collaborative Summer Library Program committee, is “Dig into Reading”.  Come in to enroll in the program and begin keeping track of the minutes read or those that have been read to you for our reading challenge. There are also a lot of fun activities and presentations planned this summer at the library.  Every program is free to the public. 

Fairy Gardens have been made with Gail Swagerty, painted/decorated wooden snakes as a craft and had the NCRL puppet show last Friday.

Some upcoming activities at the Grand Coulee library are:

July 5, 10:30 a.m. - Craft Day - Pet Rocks.

July 12, 11 a.m. - Chelan PUD; Incredible Forces.

July 19, 11 a.m. - Dig into Geology with Phil Hansen.

July 26, 11 a.m. - NCRL Puppet Show.

August 2, 11 a.m. - Renowned NW author / illustrator Eric Brooks

August 9, tba - Dig into Archaeology - TBA

August 16, 10:30 a.m. - SRP Gala -games, crafts, food, FUN!

Summer Reading Program participants will also earn prizes after they have read a total of ten hours. Lots of drawings and prizes throughout the summer.

This summer we are offering an opportunity to participate in summer reading on the internet with Online Summer Reading. Go to http://www.ncrl.org to join. Online Summer Reading will allow you to share book reviews, keep track of books you read, link your information to your Facebook page, and automatically place you in a raffle for cool prizes.
