The Grand Coulee High School Alumni Association has awarded their 2013 scholarships in the amount of $500 each to Andrew McClure and Hillary Carriere, Lake Roosevelt High School graduating seniors.  Andrew wants to become an architect and will attend Walla Walla Community College in the fall, and later plans to pursue his degree at WSU.  Hillary’s choice for continuing her education is Pacific Lutheran University where she will study to become a registered nurse and hopes eventually to become a nurse practitioner.

    The Alumni Association had its beginning in 2001 with the sole purpose being the awarding of scholarships to deserving graduating seniors from the local high school.  Association members include anyone who has ever attended school in Grand Coulee, whether or not they were able to graduate here, and the money for the scholarships comes from annual dues of $10 or lifetime memberships of $500.  Gifts made in memory of students, parents, or school staff who have passed away also add to the amount available for future scholarship awards. All donations are tax deductible.  The group publishes a newsletter twice a year with information about class reunions and other topics of interest to alumni.  If you’d like to be on the receiving end, contact Darlene Dittmer, Kathy Rice, Lonna Bussert, or Liz Marcolin or drop a note to GCHS Alumni Assn, Box 222, Grand Coulee.
