New activities will add to this year’s upcoming Festival of America, which will stretch over three days this year for the traditional July 4 celebration in the lower Visitor Center park below Grand Coulee Dam.

Chamber of commerce Manager Peggy Nevsimal said a number of family-friendly, carnival-like games have been included this year on Saturday, July 6.

Games include such events as a pie-eating contest, a ring toss, a dunk tank and a photo booth, among other activities. A fire truck will be on hand for kids to explore, Nevsimal stated. These games will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The new family fun feature goes along with music in the park (see separate story) put on by the town of Coulee Dam with Mayor Quincy Snow making arrangements.

Nevsimal said that there will be an outstanding selection of concession booths, which will operate each day from 11 a.m. to 9:30 at night.

The Laser Light Show kicks off each night now at 10 p.m. And on Thursday, July 4, there will be the traditional fireworks over Grand Coulee Dam following the laser show.

The Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce puts on the annual July 4 celebration in partnership with the Coulee Dam Casino.
