LR Class of 2013 graduates

Lake Roosevelt High School’s class of 2013 went through commencement exercises Saturday afternoon with speeches, songs, awards and scholarship announcements. School board director Ted Piccalo handed 36 diplomas to the smallest graduating class in the school’s history, which nevertheless contributed more than 3,200 hours of volunteer work to the community and amassed some $206,940 in scholarship offers.

Andrew McClure was awarded: Grand Coulee Dam Rotary Scholarship (renewable 4 years) $500; Hamilton Youth Foundation $800; Nespelem Grange Scholarship $400; Rob Williams Memorial Scholarship $1,500; Steve Breeze Memorial Scholarship $800; Troy Bierman Award $100; TOTAL - $4,100

Taima Carden was awarded: University of Idaho Discover Idaho Access Waiver (renewable 4 years) $ 6,500

Charli Knight was awarded: Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship, all expenses paid at University of Washington (renewable 4 years) $27,600

Hillary Carriere was awarded: Pacific Lutheran University Deans Scholarship(renewable 4 years) $19,000 WOIS Scholarship $1,000; Moose Lodge $500; Opal F. Smith Memorial Scholarship $1,000; Carl Carlson Memorial Scholarship $1,000; Steve Breeze Memorial Scholarship $800; Grand Coulee Eagles Scholarship $300; Grand Coulee Alumni Association Scholarship $500; Grand Coulee Dam Volunteer Firemen’s Association $100; Washington State Opportunity Scholarship $12,000; TOTAL - $36,200.

Johnny Medina-McCraigie was awarded: Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship, all expenses paid at University of Hawaii (renewable 4 years) $40,000; P.E.O. Scholarship $400; TOTAL $40,400.

Brady Black was awarded: Carl Carlson Memorial Scholarship $1,000; Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union $1,000; Grand Coulee Dam Education Association Scholarship $1,000; Grand Coulee Dam Lions Club $1,000; Grand Coulee Dam PSE Association $250; Grand Coulee Dam Rotary Scholarship (renewable 4 years) $500; Herbert and Elizabeth Davis Scholarship $1,000; Nespelem Grange Scholarship $400; Stanford University Scholarship (renewable annually) $51,096; TOTAL $57,246.

Kendall Piccolo was awarded: Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship, all expenses paid at Dartmouth College (renewable 4 years) $ 64,994.
