5/20 - A barking dog brought police to Hill Avenue, where the officer told the dog’s owner that he needed to keep it from barking and keeping neighbors awake.

5/21 - Police recovered a vehicle stolen in Soap Lake, finding it at a Yakima Avenue residence in Delano. The driver of the car fled. However, officers know the driver and have referred the matter to the Grant County Prosecutor. When the owner in Soap Lake couldn’t be contacted, the car was towed.

- A Burdin Boulevard woman told police that during the night her security light had come on and then she noticed that her gate was open. She thought someone was sneaking around her home.

- Police seized a vehicle that had been stolen in Spokane from a residence on Spokane Boulevard NE. Officers knocked on the door of the residence but no one answered. The ignition had been punched and a backpack was located inside the vehicle that contained tools and a GPS system. The vehicle was towed.

- A man living on Park Avenue in Electric City told police that when he returned home from work he noticed that someone had entered his place through a back window and taken a notebook computer, a play station, about $50 in change, a blue duffel bag and a backpack.

- An officer went to Federal Avenue on a report of possible domestic violence. The officer found that a grandfather who had custody of his granddaughter, had pushed her when she kept hanging on his arm. The girl hid, and when found and returned to her residence, she began to laugh and play with a cousin. The man was advised of the Washington state law regarding punishing children.

5/22 - Coulee Hardware officials reported to police that there was a problem when a man using a credit card to purchase bathroom fixtures called the following day and cancelled the order.

- A woman under court order to be at a certain residence during curfew hours was found not to be there and the officer referred the matter to the county prosecutor’s office.

- A driver who nearly caused a wreck when pulling out at the Four Corners stop sign was pulled over by an officer who learned that his driver’s license was suspended. He was cited and said he would walk home and have his girlfriend come and get the car.

5/23 - Police stopped a man who was driving while talking on his cell phone. When issued a ticket, the man became belligerent, calling the officer names, according to the report.

5/24 - Police assisted Lincoln County Sheriff officers in regard to a car that had gone off the road and down an embankment at Lakeview Terrace. There were no injuries and the incident was turned over to county officials when they arrived.

- A car on Midway was stopped because the passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The driver received a ticket for allowing a youth to ride without wearing his seatbelt and for not having insurance.

- A man who told an officer he was late for a contracting job and that was why he was using his cell phone while driving, still got a ticket.

- A man complained because a person was selling firewood in Electric City without a business license.

- A driver was stopped on Alcan Road for not having his seatbelt fastened. Even though he insisted that he had his seatbelt on, he was issued a ticket.

- An Electric City driver was stopped because his license tabs had expired about six months ago. He told police that he thought he was stopped for not paying fines. He was cited for the tab lapse and for not having insurance.

- A man was stopped on Alcan for operating a motorized wheelchair when he isn’t wheelchair bound. He told the officer that he was allowed to operate the motorized wheelchair because it didn’t go over 20 mph. He was cited for driving while his license was suspended and driving a motorized wheelchair when he wasn’t wheelchair bound.

5/25 - Police found two dogs wandering around at Center Lodge Motel. An enployee agreed to take charge of the dogs and to find the owners.

5/26 - A man was stopped at the intersection of Martin and Hill because of a faulty brake light. The officer learned that there was a no-contact court order between the man and his wife, who was a passenger. Both the man and woman said they thought the no-contact order had been dropped. The man was arrested for the violation and taken to Grant County Jail.

- A driver whose tabs had expired in April, 2012, was also cited for driving while his license was suspended. A tow of the vehicle was ordered.

- A Bothell, Wash., resident struck a deer near the south entrance to Electric City. The impact of hitting the deer did about $2,500 damage to the vehicle.

5/27 - An Omak woman arrested on a warrant told the officer that she had a .22 rifle in the car which she had purchased for her daughter. A search turned up five Schedule IV pills that require a prescription. She would not tell the officer where she obtained the pills. She was taken to Grant County Jail.

- A Nespelem woman was stopped because her license tabs were expired and it was found that she was operating the vehicle without a valid operator’s license. She was cited.

- A Camano Island driver was cited for not having insurance after being stopped for speeding.

Coulee Dam

5/19 - Officers issued six initial notices to residents that their property was in violation of the town’s nuisance ordinance. Two were on Central Drive, two were on Camas, one was on River Drive and one was on Tilmus.

- Two residents received a final notice that their properties were in violation of the town’s nuisance ordinance. One was on Fir Street and the other on Civic Way.

- Plant Protection advised that a man was walking north on Marina Way with a Geiger counter. The man told police that he was looking for radioactive material in granite and that he could sell it on E-bay. He was told he couldn’t do that on government property.

5/20 - Two notices of property being in violation of the town’s nuisance ordinance were issued to homeowners on Pine Street.

5/22 - Three women told police that a man was drinking at Mason City Park. Police found the man sitting at a park table who had an unopened beer in a sack. He was told that he couldn’t have beer in the park and he said he was going to head home.

5/24 - A woman in an apartment told police that she saw a little red light in her light fixture when it was turned off and thought someone had put a camera inside the switch. Police determined that she was seeing the reflection from the red light on her answering machine.

5/24 - Police were advised that a vehicle that was illegally parked belonged to a woman on Camas Street wanted on a felony warrant. Police found the woman walking on the street, arrested her on the warrant and took her to Okanogan County Jail.

5/25 - Tribal police got an assist when they were investigating a report that someone had taken a vehicle without permission and the vehicle was currently at a residence on Tulip Street. The tribal officer took the driver, and local police released two juveniles to their guardians.
