Raiders on a win streak

Raider baseball went on a winning streak, sweeping away all opponents last week.

It started on April 9 at Bridgeport, where the Raiders 10- runned the Mustangs, 11-0.

Brady Black continues to be stout on the mound and Kendall Piccolo closed out the win in the fifth inning. Justus DeWinkler was the big bat for the night, picking up three doubles.

On April 11, the Raiders travelled north to face the Tonasket Tigers. It was a offensive day, as both squads scored over 10 runs apiece. The Raiders’ nine-run fourth-inning performance put them over the top toward the 19-10 win.

Brady Black and DeWinkler each batted in four runs. Devan Black had 3 RBIs and scored two more himself. Brady Black hit a double and a triple. DeWinkler hit two more doubles to bring his weekly total to five. Tim Loch added an RBI and a triple on the the day.

The Raiders hit the road again on Saturday, traveling to Manson to finish the season series against the Trojans. LR made short work of the Trojans in the doubleheader, winning both games in five innings by the scores of 19-2 and 14-1. Raider Head Coach Ted Piccolo liked the play of newcomer Hunter Chapman at Manson.

“Freshman Hunter Chapman made the most of his varsity debut with two hits and … a nice play in center field,” Piccolo said.

The Raiders travelled last night to Liberty Bell for a single game against The Mountain Lions, who lead the Central Washington North and have a two-game advantage on the Raiders.

LR will travel this Saturday to Pateros for the season’s series doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. The Raiders narrowly escaped the Billygoats at home earlier this season 7-6.
