Evelyn (Haskins) Mattson, a lifetime resident of Washington, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born in Leavenworth to Nancy (Stevens) and Jean Haskins. She attended school in Leavenworth and met her husband Buddy Mattson at a community dance there. From 1941, they lived in Grand Coulee. While Buddy worked on various dam-building projects along the Columbia River, Evelyn kept the home fires bright. She became an efficient home-maker. As the family grew to include four active children, she became involved in Scouting and church activities. As a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church, she attended Bible study classes and various fund-raising efforts. She participate in Vacation Bible School as the “cookie lady.”

Her last years were spent in Spokane and were blessed to have family close by and loving caregivers. A special thank you to all the staff at Avalon Care Center Northpointe, not the least of whom are Dr. Vanderbosche and all the nursing personnel and aides in the East Unit!

Evelyn is survived by four children: William (Stacia) Mattson, Sandra Enselman, Robert (Jenny) Mattson, Bud (Stacy) Mattson and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is predeceased by both parents, one brother, her husband and one infant daughter.
