Hillary Carriere won her singles match 7-5/6-0 here last week.

The Raider boys swept Oroville’s tennis squad last week up north, and the girls’ squad beat Liberty Bell in Coulee Dam.

In Oroville March 26, the Raider boys posted their first squad win of the season. For the Raider girls, the match ended as a draw, 2-2.

Daniel Campobasso won over Oroville’s Ronel King 6-0, 6-1. Brandin Smith knocked off Connor BoCook by a dominant 6-2, 6-1.

Then in doubles action, Campobasso and Smith teamed up to knock out Joe Sarmicuto and Nathan Hugus 6-1, 6-0.

“Very proud of our boys in this match, winning both the singles matches and a doubles match,” commented Head Coach Steve Archer.

The Raider girls split their singles and doubles matches against Oroville. Holly Carriere won her singles match against Menze Pickering 6-1, 6-0. Kendra Descoteaux played her first-ever singles match against Ali Miller, losing 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, Emily Williams and Hillary Carriere lost to Aya Cruspero and Lily Hilderbrand 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. Hayley Seylor and Areielle White won their long hard fight against Maddie Coffelt-Richardyn and Angela Nelson 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5.

The Raiders hosted Liberty Bell Friday, when the girls’ squad won their match 3-2 over the Mountain Lions, but the boys were swept 0-4.

Hillary Carriere won her singles match against Thyra Nohns 7-5, 6-0. Lyric Witten won by default as the Mountain Lions travelled with only four girls.

Emily Williams lost a tough one to Keana King 7-5, 6-3. In doubles action, Kendra Descoteaux and Harmony Witten won by default.

Areielle White and Tanya Ang lost a close match to Emily Alexander and Sidni Butler 5-7, 7-5, 6-4. “Our two freshmen … had a two match point at the end of the second set but were pushed back by the LB girls to force a third deciding set,” Archer said. “It went back and forth the whole game but unfortunately the LB girls got the momentum at the end for their win.”

Daniel Campobasso put up a fight in his match against Carlos Perez, losing 6-3, 6-2, but pleasing his coach. “Every point was close during his entire set,” Archer said.

Brandin Smith lost to Clayton Avery 6-1, 6-0. In doubles action, Campobasso and Smith lost to Daniel Sonnichsen and Jesse Shulz 6-2, 6-2.

Raider tennis has this week off for spring break, but will be the first to return to action on April 8t as they take on the Wilson Creek Devils at the LR courts starting at 4 p.m.
