Kelly-Marconi has stellar day at Oroville invite

In Oroville Saturday a small squad of Raider tracksters competed in the Eagle Home Mortgage Invitational, where the girls’ squad finished eighth with 24 points and the boys finished 11th with 13 points.

Chyenne Kelly-Marconi placed in all four of her events, taking first in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 8.75 inches. She placed third in both the triple jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Her triple jump added up to 30 feet, 1.5 inches, and she finished the hurdles in 18.69 seconds. Kelly-Marconi’s fourth ribbon came in the 400 meter run, where she ran an all-time best of 70.39 seconds.

Sean Waters finished fourth in the shot put, throwing 38-11. In the discus Waters threw a season-best for second with his throw of 124-6. Waters also threw the javelin 85-8 to finish 25th.

Clare Castrodale was the only other Raider girl to place at Oroville, taking home eighth in the 3200-meter run, with the time of 16:38. Castrodale also ran the 800 in 3:48.


Samantha Turner represented the Raiders in the throwing events, throwing 24-6.75 in the shot and a season best 72-9 in the discus. In the javelin, Turner was joined by Mikel Friedlander, Turner threw 57-0, and Friedlander flung the javelin 62-3. Friedlander ran both the 100 and 400, turning in season bests of 15.4 and 72.8 seconds.

Tyler Agosto ran for two season PRs. Agosto ran the 100 in 13.73 and the 200 in 30 seconds flat. Agosto also threw the shot 31-4.5.

Octavio Alejandre made his 2013 debut at Oroville, throwing the discus 80-8 and taking home sixth in the shot throwing 35-1.25.

Freshmen Bryson Goggles-Whalawitsa threw the javelin 76-4 to finish 27th.

Lukas Hermetz recorded three career PRs. In the 400, Hermetz broke the one-minute barrier in 59.63. He almost placed in the 1600 in 5:26.73, only seven seconds behind eighth place. In his last event of the day Hermetz lept 14-2 in the long jump.

Josh Wilder also recorded two career PRs on Saturday. In the 200, Wilder ran a 30.68 to finish 27th overall. Wilder long jumped 12-6 to finish 27th and threw the javelin 68-1.

Zack Erickson ran both the 1600 and his first 3200 race. In the 1600 Erickson ran a 7:06 race to finish 19th, and placed seventh in the 3200 in 13:36.94.

The Raiders will travel April 9 to Bridgeport for the Brewster Co-Ed Relays. Brewster does not have a track so they host their home meets at Bridgeport. The Raiders will see all the Central Washington 2B North as they will all be in attendance for the relays. the Caribou Trail League will also be well represented with Brewster, Chelan, Okanogan, Omak, Quincy, and Tonasket in attendance.
