WSU Extension Diabetes Education classes will be offered in Grand Coulee at the Coulee Medical Center beginning April 18.

In partnership with the Coulee Medical Center staff, “On the Road To Living Well With Diabetes” is a series of four lessons presented every other week that promote healthy eating and being active as a way to help people manage their diabetes.

This class will compliment information from health care providers. Two class times are being offered. Session one will be offered from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Session two goes from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Class dates are April 18, May 2, 16, 30. Both sessions will be offered on each date. Participants will attend all four sessions.

Participants are asked to pre-register so that appropriate class arrangements are in place. Healthy snacks will be offered during the first session and a dinner meal will be provided during the second session. Child care will be provided for both sessions.

During this free program, participants will receive an “A1c” test and blood pressure reading, take-home workbooks that help monitor diabetic health activity, an exercise DVD, pedometer, exercise bands, and a three-month follow-up to support healthy eating and physical activity habits.

The purpose of this class series is to help participants make the necessary lifestyle changes that come along with having diabetes. Healthy lifestyle changes can be good for everyone in the family, not just someone with diabetes.

For more information or to pre-register, call the WSU Extension office at 754-2011, ext. 413, or toll free at 800-572-0119, ext. 413
