In his freshman year, Chance Garvin carried a big load for the Raider basketball team last season, playing guard, rotating underneath as a post, and playing stout zone defense all as a brand-new player on varsity basketball.

All this was made even more amazing as Garvin came into the season with a knee injury that had ended his football season and threatened to take away his basketball season as well.

Garvin went through a strict rehab program in Spokane so that the knee would be healed up for the basketball season, and it was a boon for the Raiders that Garvin was well enough to play, noted the Spokesman Review.

The other coaches in the Central Washington 2B North recognized that ability recently by naming Garvin to the First Team All-League squad, the only Raider represented on the postseason honor list.

Garvin is looking forward to next season, as the Raiders will have a much more experience squad. Missing Districts this last season provides an impetus for Garvin to improve his game over the offseason with his teammates to make sure LR can push through those close games to ensure at least a district, and perhaps a state, berth next season.
