Grand Coulee Police

2/26 - Police checked on a possible overdose of medicine on Continental Heights. Police suggested to the subject that she go to the hospital, but she stated that if she took her oxygen she would be fine.

2/27 - A school employee advised police of a possible sexual molestation of a female student. School officials feared that the family might move away before the incident could be investigated by Child Protective Services and tribal officials. Later it was learned that the girl was at her grandmother’s and an interview could be done there.

- USBR Plant Protection advised police that there was a man trespassing on government property near the industrial area. The officer responding found a man known to police carrying a backpack. The man told police that he was just walking around and was having trouble with his backpack. Police learned that the man was wanted on a warrant, but Grant County Jail officials advised that the jail had booking restrictions because it was full.


2/28 - A man wanted on two warrants was spotted on Spokane Way, arrested and taken to Grant County Jail.

3/2 - Police checked on a report that a silver SUV was traveling at 100 mph through Electric City. Police couldn’t locate the offender.

- An Electric City woman told police that someone had broken into her father’s garage and knocked sheetrock off the ceiling. Police found a mattress in an overhead space where it appeared that someone had been sleeping.

- A nurse who works at Coulee Medical Center was stopped because he was running near the 500 kV switchyard. Plant Protection checked the area and found that there were no signs telling people not to be there and said they would correct that.

- A woman on W. Grand Avenue in Electric City told police that as she was turning her dogs loose in the backyard, she noticed something on the ground. It was half a cat. She said that other neighbors had told her that someone in the area was torturing cats. Police said it was possible that a wild animal had dropped the remains of the cat there.

3/3 - A Moses Lake man was stopped in Electric City when his car wandered over the center line several times. The driver told police that he had only had “four beers” and then later admitted that he was probably drunk. He received a DUI and citation for having expired tabs.

2/25 - Police checked on a 911 call from a residence on Aspen Street, where they had checked on earlier 911 hangup calls. The officer was met at the door by a woman who said no one had called 911, and that her aunt and uncle were asleep.

- Residents on River Drive told police that they thought someone was entering a vacant house in their neighborhood. They reported that dogs started barking and they saw a flashlight scanning the area. Police could not find anyone.

- Police checked on a man sleeping in his car at a gas station. He agreed to take an alcohol field test, which proved negative, and the man left the area.

- Police checked on a report that a dog had been inside a vehicle at Columbia Apartments for several days. The officer found that a man was keeping the dog for a relative and that he had been feeding and watering it.

2/26 - A woman reported a yellow dog was in her fenced yard on Birch Street. Police opened the side gate to the yard and the dog ran away.

- Police arrested a woman known to be wanted on an arrest warrant at a service station. In a search, the officer found a baggie of a powdery substance that tested as an illegal drug. She is being charged with driving while license was suspended, possession of a controlled substance, and on the felony warrant.
