Clark, Pitner on to regional bee

Grand Coulee Dam School District will be represented this year by Marianna Clark, 8th grade (left) and Rylee Pitner, 7th grade at the NCW Regional Spelling Bee on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 6:00 p.m.

The regional bee is hosted at the Eastmont Junior High School in East Wenatchee.  The winner of this bee is sent to Washington D.C. to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  

The District Spelling Bee was held on Friday, February 1st in the middle school band room.  The following 4th-8th grade students competed for this opportunity: Bryn Chaffee, Mikayla Harris, Lillie LaPlace, Lacey Moon, Skylar Armstrong, Wensdae Antoine, Brianna Whybark, Samara Cosgrove, Kody Olsen, Rosa Carter, Jaylyn Kensler, Hannah Wapato, Derek Whiteman, Malcolm Carson, Dylan Steinert, Aidan Derr, Chasity Williams, Dominic LaPlante, Kourtney Harrington, Mikala Feeley, and Jazmine Reed.

The students impressed parents and staff with their ability and knowledge of the spelling words that were given.

Marianna’s word was “convention” and Rylee’s was “satisfactory”
