Grand Coulee Police

1/14 - Police checked on a report that a 17-year-old mother was trying to leave her mother’s house on Burdin Boulevard along with her baby without permission. The officer advised the girl to go back into the house and listen to her mother. The mother called later to say that the girl had crawled out of a window and left with her baby.

- An Electric City man who lives on Williams Street reported to police that he had lost his black wallet which held credit and debit cards and had at least $150 cash. He remembered having the wallet last in front of Safeway the day before.

1/15 - A woman who lives on W. Grand Avenue in Electric City told police that someone told her that there was a cat inside an abandoned RV on “B” Street in Grand Coulee. The owner of the RV told police that she had moved the vehicle to that location several months before and there wasn’t any cat in it. She said she planned to move the RV again soon.

- Police got a report that there was a burglary in progress at a location on Stevens Street in Electric City. The reporting party said as she had gone in one door of the house, two people ran out of another door. The woman said the parties were attempting to take the TV and stereo equipment. A window had been pushed out, enabling the parties to open the door.

- Police checked on a report of a runaway juvenile from a location on Bowen Street. It was stated that the juvenile had left with a friend. The report stated that the juvenile had run away three times before.

- An Ephrata driver had to have his vehicle towed after hitting a deer south of Electric City on SR-155. The damage to the vehicle was extensive, but there were no injuries.

- A Wilbur woman backed into the car of a Grand Coulee resident in the Safeway parking lot. The two exchanged insurance information.

1/16 - A police officer had to kill a deer that was along the road near the entrance to Sunbanks Resort due to the extensive injuries the animal had received.

1/18 - An officer assisted Coulee Dam Police with traffic control after a two-car accident at the intersection of SR-155 and Roosevelt Way. The officer helped push one of the vehicles off the roadway so traffic could resume.

1/16 - A man was stopped for having expired license tabs near River Drive and Crest. The driver told police that he had recently purchased the vehicle but didn’t have money to transfer the title, and that he didn’t have insurance. Upon checking the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. A licensed driver was enroute to get the vehicle after the man was cited on being suspended. The other offenses resulted in a warning.

- A driver was stopped for driving a lifted vehicle without proper splash aprons (mud flaps). She was given a warning by the officer.

1/17 - A man was stopped on River Drive when the officer noticed that the lifted vehicle did not have proper mud flaps. The officer noticed that the vehicle tabs had been altered. The driver said he had purchased the vehicle but didn’t have the title so he couldn’t get new tabs. He said his brother gave him permission to use his tabs. He was cited for expired vehicle registration, not having insurance and altering the vehicle tabs.

- A driver was stopped on River Drive when the officer noticed expired tabs on his vehicle. The officer found that the driver, who claimed he drove for UPS, had a suspended license for not paying traffic fines. He was cited.

1/18 - The driver of a Dodge Durango was cited for failing to yield after he turned left in front of a Buick traveling west on Roosevelt Way. Both vehicles received major damage. A 14-year-old girl riding in the Dodge complained of pain in her back and neck and was taken to Coulee Medical Center by ambulance, where personnel told police that her injuries were minor.

- A woman was stopped on Columbia Avenue when the officer noticed that her vehicle didn’t have plates — front or back. She said she purchased the vehicle in Idaho in October 2012. She was cited on the vehicle plate offense.

1/19 - Police were advised of a suspicious person on Central Drive. An officer responded and stayed in the area for about 30 minutes looking for the person.
