The Grand Coulee Dam Middle School held its 2013 National Geographic Society Bee Jan. 10.
Linda Morgan moderated the bee.
Participants Kevin Brown, Reese Caddy, Malcolm Carson, Casey Cleveland, Aidan Derr, Alan Nordine, and Bradley Wilder went through many preliminary rounds to determine who would make it to the final rounds.
In the second part of the competition, Aidan, Bradley, and Alan answered many difficult questions before a winning order emerged. In third place, Bradley Wilder. Second place went to Aidan Derr. Coming out on top was seventh-grader Alan Nordine.
He will try for the state bee in Olympia through a written qualifying test.
