Volunteer of year nominations are open

The Star is accepting letters of nomination for the 2012 Volunteer of the Year through Dec. 10.

The annual honor is given to one person in the community who exemplifies the spirit of working selflessly for a cause or just helping those who need it.

Anyone who volunteers his or her time and talent for the good of someone else is eligible, whether in the public eye or not.

Nominations for groups of people will not be accepted.

The entire community will comprise the selection committee. Letters of nomination will printed and posted online, and everyone can vote in an online poll. Individuals with no Internet access can write in their signed vote. Only one vote will be accepted per individual. Only one vote will be accepted per computer address.

Voting will cease on Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. The honoree will be announced in the following week’s newspaper.

Letters of nomination can be emailed to scott@grandcoulee.com or mailed or dropped off at The Star, addressed to The Star V of Y, P.O. Box 150, Grand Coulee, WA, 99133.

Include your name and contact information, and the reasons you believe your nominee deserves recognition. Be specific and include contact information for people knowledgeable about the nominee.

Telephone calls are not acceptable for nominations.
