Christmas mailing for our troops encouraged

I have given up waiting to receive a name of a particular soldier to mail packages from home to. So I went on line and there is a website: “Anysoldier.com” and it lists names of soldiers (from every branch) who is wanting to receive packages from home.

This will work out great, and I’m ready to start baking and sending, and I have heard from many others who are also ready and willing to think of our heroes serving us and our country.

I would encourage everyone to pick a name and send a letter and box of holiday cheer to someone (any one of them, in any branch), or you can drop off the items to me and I will see that they get sent off. I also encourage the schools (K-12) to make cards, draw pictures, write poems and letters, and just show their appreciation to our men and women serving our country (again I will be willing to mail these off).

I know how much the last greetings from our school children meant to so many of them, much more than even the cookies and goodies. We don’t have to believe in the war but we have to believe and support our soldiers. So no matter if you want to donate cash for mailing; donate sugar, flour, baking chips, nuts, etc. to make cookies and candies, or make your own home baked cookies and candies; or you would like to send other personal items, such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, phone cards, etc., any and all will be greatly appreciated.

I’m getting a later start than last year, but I’m ready to kick this into high gear and for the next six weeks get off as many boxes that I/we can, to let them know HOW VERY MUCH WE APPREICATE THEM, especially during these holidays seasons when they are away from family and friends.

Christmas can be a very sad time of year for some, and I would like very much to make some of our many heroes realize that we love and appreciate all that they are giving up to serve us.

I challenge the Grand Coulee area organizations and people to get involved in this very worthy, heart warming cause.

Feel free to call me at 633-0742; if I’m not home I will return your call as soon as I can.

God Bless to all.

Thank you.

Becky Billups
