Action on issues before a Grand Coulee Dam School District meeting last Thursday were moved to Monday, Oct. 22, because of a lack of a quorum. The school board meets at 6 p.m. at the district office.

City planner hired

Electric City has hired SCI Alliance of Wenatchee as its city planner.

The firm will represent the city in the current Shoreline Management Plan and keep the city’s comprehensive plan up to date.

SCI replaces Daryl Piercy, who has been handling the position for the past few years.

The new firm will get $95 an hour for its work.

Barry Peacock, Coulee Dam’s public works superintendent, reported to the council that the town and the Colville Tribes had reached an agreement to allow the Tribes to use town poles to attach its fiber optic lines within the town, instead of going underground. The agreement includes 44 poles with an annual cost of $9.50 a pole.

Coulee Dam Councilmember Ken Miles stated that he would like to see Fiddle Creek cleaned up. He cited that the debris in the creek could contribute to the fire danger. He stated the creek should be posted to prohibit yard waste from being dumped there.

Coulee Dam police chief Pat Collins told council members that he is working with the town’s building inspector in regards to the recently burned out house at 611 Holly Street. He said he has posted the property to keep people away and that he plans to advertise for someone to clean the property up. Collins said the town will place a lien on the property in order to recover costs to the town.

A meeting for persons interested in a “Coulee Pioneer Museum” will be held at 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Senior Center.

People are needed to do research, help write grants, and other tasks. All those interested are invited.
